'Heneral Luna' Film Review
Director Jerrold
Tarog's latest masterpiece "Heneral Luna", portrayed by John
Arcilla. It has sparked debates on whether Antonio
Luna was really assassinated or not and whether Emilio Aguinaldo ordered
his assassination or not and basically it has push us to review what we learned about history in school.
For me the movie was perfect the cinematography, the cast, the acting and plot. The
film has been selected as the Philippine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
To be honest i don't really like history but when i watch Heneral luna, im amaze. The movie is so amazing, it never focus on the larger aspects of history but
on the smaller stories that perfectly construct a hard-hitting picture of a
revolution built on suspicion and dissent. Even if Heneral Luna's way of leading is very strict, it was very
effective. He stopped the advance of the opposing forces of the
Americans from moving in and taking over more of our territory. He's a
great strategist and always finds a way to conquer and overcome his
challenges.
John
Arcilla is excellent as Antonio Luna. Arcilla is exhilarating to
behold in his various interpretations of Luna’s many personalities. He acted as if he really was general luna.
I learned so much from the movie and I would never to forget those lessons.
My favorite line that i like is "Mga kapatid. Mayroon tayong mas malaking kaaway kaysa mga Amerkano. Ang ating sarili"
